It’s been requested so I’m telling you… How I lost 5 pounds in 3 days.

I had intentions of starting my diet weeks ago.  Yet life sort of got in the way, and so I wasn’t able to start it when I said I did. I officially started my diet Tuesday, August 10th, 2010. Cold fuckin’ turkey. Yet before I jump into this I’m going to describe my diet beforehand. This way you can gauge your own diet against my previous. Maybe you’re already eating healthy or healthier than I was so this diet may help a lot, or a little, or maybe not at all. This diet is not for everyone. You need to find what diet is best for you. Stick with it, and so that you get the results you desire.

My diet before I started this: I was eating sugar, and carbs nonstop. None of them were natural either.  I am a junkie for sugar… I’d eat excessive amounts of kit kats, caramel cremes, pop tarts, reeses’ puffs cereal, etcetera. Everyday I would have to have a kit kat or a pop tart. I also loved bread. Guess what bread is? Sugar and carbs. Doesn’t matter if it’s whole grain it’s just means it’s a lesser evil. Then I’d try to eat sushi and lean cuisines to make myself feel better or calorie count but eat nothing but pure sugar and carbs.  The only thing that I already formed good habits in were not messing with dairy, unless it was in cereal, fruit juice and soda.

Initially counting calories did work but probably because I worked out a lot and was really busy. My caloric intake was about 600 to 1,000 calories, and no more than that.  Then I lost my job. I couldn’t afford the gym, and a lot of things. Shit got ill. Upon a visit from the library a saint saw that I had checked out a lot of food related books, and offered his expertise. I’m very glad he did other wise I wouldn’t have been enlightened.

All of our lives we’ve been told in order to lose weight you must intake less calories, and be more active so that you lose weight. Well that completely makes sense right? You eat less. You work out. You lose weight.

Sometimes. I lost weight eating about 800 sugar calories a day then I stopped losing…WTF? I’m eating the same and I’m working out! WHY!?? Then I found out you just can’t go through life thinking calories are the only thing that matters. Just like the number on your scale doesn’t dictate how you look. You can be 100lbs, and look like shit. Or you can be 150 lbs, and look motherfucking amazing. Remember fat, and muscle weigh the same but fat takes up more room. Muscle is more condensed… Smaller.

Now what am I eating? I’m eating mostly protein…But it has a lot of fat! Yet it’s good fat! Along with little to none of sugar and carbs.  I’m eating tuna, salmon, tilapia, mussels, oysters, sardines, shrimp, chicken,  and eggs. For a snack I eat pepperoni slices. Here’s a warning! My caloric intake is very low as I want to get rid of this weight as soon as possible. Ideal weight loss is 2lbs a week. If you’re bigger though you are able to lose weight much faster while still being safe.

Before I jumped into this protein diet. I wanted to compare it to a diet that had worked for me. Which is Medifast. I had lost 100lbs in 4 months on this diet. What is Medifast? It’s a liquid diet that’s high in protein, but you still have some carbs, sugars, etc. You drink 5 shakes, and have 1 meal with usually a salad with a protein. I never did the salad with a protein part of it just the shakes.  Now that I’ve talked forever here’s my menu for the past three days!

breakfast: oysters (12 grams of protein & 160 calories)

lunch: tuna pouch (18 grams of protein & 160 calories)

dinner: salmon filet with lemon slices (40 grams of protein & 240 calories, mind you 3 ounces which is the size of a deck of cards is normal amount but I had twice the amount )

my protein for the day clocked in at 70 grams
my calories for the day is  560 calories.

I try to eat no more than 600 calories, but it’s okay if I happen to eat 1,000 calories but nothing over it. I must tell you that eating less than 1,200 calories is considered dangerous as everyone wants you to lose weight slowly because supposedly you won’t gain your weight back as fast. I think it’s because you took so long losing the weight you don’t want to spend another 4 years trying to re-lose it. Yet, like I said if you’re bigger you are able to lose more weight safely. A lot of doctors actually put patients on very low calorie diets. I was one of them. The effects from losing weight quickly outweigh the consequences of keeping your weight. I believe the faster you can get it off the faster I can enjoy these health benefits in the long run. ( I say in the long run because even though I am fat, I have perfect cholesterol, blood pressure, etc levels all the time. I don’t know how with all the junk I was eating how that worked out! But eventually it’ll catch up and I’m fixing that before it happens.)

I drink a lot of water. You’re supposed to drink 1/2 your body weight. If you’re 600 lbs you need to drink 300 ounces of water. It’ll be hard at first if you’re not used to drinking water, but it’ll get easier as you go. Sometimes I drink watered down crystal light or just put a little bit in it so I can get my intake in. Usually, I feel bad for doing this, and end up drinking more water for not being a purist from the beginning. Of course you can always add lemons, and limes for some flavor. They only help your weight loss by cleansing.

Right now I’m not doing any crazy exercise. Mild walking as I don’t want to tire my body out as it’s already wondering wtf is going on since it’s not on it’s regular diet. I’m going to ease into exercise. I’ll be doing resistance training with my stretch bands, and cardio in the future — mostly swimming.

So, this is how I lost 5 pounds in 3 days. I used two completely different scales to verify that I wasn’t being crazy! Once again I must reiterate that this is what’s working for me! This may not work for you! You may have to find something else. Everyone’s body is completely different. So don’t come whining, and shit to me. Try something else! Also this is not something you will be on forever. Eventually you’re going to start eating fruits, vegs, proteins, fats, sugars, etc as a balanced diet. You just can’t go back to your old habits. Unless you want to be like me; doing this diet again. On that note I wish you all good luck, and if you have any questions just comment.

Good luck!
